Isn’t it funny how when you are a teenager and land that first job, whether it’s baby sitting, mowing lawns or flipping hamburgers, we dream of one day having a “real job” with “real pay”. When you are a teenager you feel as though you work for peanuts and you never have any money. However, you forget that you also have no expenses. It’s almost comical to say that you are richer when you are 16 than when you are 26. What I mean is, when you are 16 all you money is spent on things you want but when you are 26, so much of your money goes toward paying bills (rent, utilities, insurance, etc) and very little is spent on things that are desired.
Now I don’t know about you but I would love to have more “play money”, you know money for vacations, new furniture, and other goodies. In order do to this, we all need to do some financial planning. What? Did you just groan when I said “financial planning”. Well groan no more. I just found a GREAT scavenger hunt and sweepstakes on FaceBook. Yup, you heard me correctly. You can play a game, get some great financial tips, and have a chance at winning anywhere between $500 and $2000. Here, I’ll show you.
Here’s the instructions: Just click on the plus signs and locate the 3 tokens.
There are 5 weeks in this game. Each week focuses on different financial scenarios.
Week 1 – Having a New Baby
Week 2 – Getting a New Job
Week 3 – Purchasing a New Home
Week 4 – Getting Ready for College
Week 5 – Managing your Finances
Here I am ready to play Week 1 (see it’s the grey conversation bubble).
Here I clicked on a plus sign and I am receiving a great financial tip.
Here I clicked on a plus sign and I had to share on either FaceBook or Twitter to earn a tolken. Other tolkens required that I answer a question (the solution also came with an explanation to further my financial knowledge).
Here I have completed week 1’s scavenger hunt! Now I have been entered for a chance to win (my fingers are crossed).
So are you ready for your chance to win? Okay, to participate in the BMO Harris Bank Scavenger Hunt Sweepstakes the first thing you need to do is like them on Facebook. Now you are ready to play along.
I have a child in college and let me tell you, it is expensive! How much do you think it will cost to put your child(ren) through college? Are you ready? Have you set enough aside for this financial stage?
