Here is the package of my challenge supplies that I received from Jesse. Along with the fabric, I received 2 pieces of ribbon and a strip of sequins. I absolutely LOVE these colors!
I got to thinking about what I would make and I decided that I wanted to create something that would help me with organizing my office. What came to mind was a business card holder for those times when I am trying to contact someone and we are playing telephone tag. So often I find myself pulling out those cards and then misplacing them…ugh!
So, I went to my local Goodwill and picked up this 5″x7″ frame fro $0.50! I did’t like the color but it’s times like this that spray paint was invented!
So here’s what I did. I removed the glass and backing from the frame and got out the spray paint. I also spray painted the cardboard backing white so that the colors in my fabric would stay beautiful. Finally, I cut a strip of my fat quarter the length of the quarter with the width approximately 1″ wider than my cardboard backing. I then decided where I would like my pockets and folded the fabric and ironed it.
See, here you can see how the pockets were created.
Like I said previously, I didn’t get my sewing machine out. Nope, I used Aleene’s fabric fusion and it works great! It’s super easy to control since it is used like a pen rather than a large glue bottle.
I decided to use the pink ribbon to help showcase where the pockets were and adhered it with fabric fusion. I also glued down the side edges of the pockets.
Finally, I flipped the fabric over and placed it inside the frame. I replaced the cardboard backing and closed up the back.
Here you go! The finished product. I had enough fabric that I could make another business card holder…I’m thinking this would be a great Christmas gift. However Christmas is still 2 months way so I’ve got a giveaway for you TODAY!
