Okay, I’m going to “paint” you a picture and let me know if you’ve “seen” it before.
You turn over and notice that the alarm didn’t go off and you’ve overslept by 30 minutes. You’re already behind and the day hasn’t started! You rush around getting yourself, and your kids, out the door. Once you are at work, you are faced with numerous tasks that are difficult for no reason: the internet isn’t working properly so all “online work” takes forever to complete and your co-worker is out sick so you are doing the work of 2 people. You get home from work and your daughter reminds you that there is a pot luck for her Girl Scout meeting that you totally forgot about. When the day finally ends, you feel thoroughly exhausted and beat.
Okay, I know you have had a day similar to this at least once. How to you unwind and relax so that you can get a good night sleep and be ready for the next day (hopefully a good day)? Here’s my suggestion.
What’s this? It’s a spa in a bottle: bath salts. Yes, things like manicures and pedicures make us feel special but sometimes we just don’t have time for those types of “pick me ups”. However, a bath is quick, soothing, and if you light a few candles, you can feel like you’ve been taken away for a few minutes.
Of all the various DIY spa treatments, bath salts are probably the simplest to make and you really only need two ingredients: salt and essential oil. I find that lavender is my go-to essential oil when I need to relax so here’s the recipe I’m going to share with you today.
Lavender Bath Salts
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of salt (Epsom salt or Dead sea salt)
- 25-30 drops of Lavender essential oil
- Optional, 1-2 Tbsp dried lavender buds
- Optional, cosmetic grade colorant (I don’t use this but you can if you’d like)
Now I decided to make my lid a bit prettier with a cupcake liner. However a lot of people use a piece of fabric…..embellish however you’d like, if at all
Here’s to ending the day in a peaceful and relaxing manner.

You know, I didn’t like lavender until I was older…now I can’t get enough of it! Love this bath salt recipe…looks easy enough! I also love that cute cupcake liner lid. You are so clever!

I love taking a bath especially especially with aromatic bath salts.
