When I was a little girl, I would see etched items and they always seemed so beautiful and sophisticated. There was just something a little extra special about an etched piece of glassware. To be honest, I’m still this way today. A piece of glass with a design painted on it is pretty but that if that same artwork has been etched on, well, it’s just stunning. Today, I’m going to share with you how you can take those cheap, glass votive holders from Wal-Mart, The Dollar Tree, or any other discount place, and etch them!
To create an etched design with dots, here’s the supplies you’ll need.
- Reinforcement Labels for notebook paper (the peel and stick type)
- Glass Votive Holder(s)
- Armour Etch
- Cheap, disposable paint brush
- Disposable Gloves
First, wash and dry your votive holders — make sure you remove any stickers and glue residue. Then, arrange the reinforcement tab stickers on your votive holders. I decided to have one holder have a band of dots around the top and bottom and one have random polka dots.
After 10 minutes or so, take your votive holder(s) over to the sink to rinse off the Armour Etch and remove the stickers. That’s it! Etching is so quick and easy, you’ll be etching every piece of glassware you can get your hands onto!
