When I was a kid, there were only two types of butter: butter (you know the stuff made from cream) and peanut butter. And, peanut butter only came in two varieties: smooth and crunchy. Oh, what a simple, yet boring time.
Today, you will find not only peanut butter and butter at your local grocery. You’ll find things like: almond butter, nutella, cashew butter, chocolate peanut butter, cookie butter…oh the list goes on. It’s like you are only limited by your own imagination. So guess what I’m imagining right now?
Oreo Butter
Yup, this is what I dreamed up in my kitchen and it is so incredibly easy to make. It just requires two ingredients and a food processor! Now, can it get any simpler than this? Here’s what you need.
Ingredients:
- 20 Double Stuff Oreos (or you can use a store brand like I did)
- 1/3 – 1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
- Place the Oreos in a food processor fitted with the large blade. Process until all of your cookies have turned into crumbs. (You may need to open up your processor and break up those couple of stubborn cookies that refuse to crumble).
- Add the coconut oil and process again. The coconut oil will melt as it blends and turn your cookies into a wonderful butter. Start with 1/3 cup coconut oil. Only add the additional coconut oil if your butter is not as soft as you’d like.
Now, you may want to dive in and eat this with a spoon…which you can. However, I will be sharing a recipe using the yummy treat tomorrow! So stop back.
In the meantime, whip up a batch of this yummy butter. You’ll be in Oreo heaven! Oh, don’t store this in your refrigerator….it will get way too hard!
