Have you ever grilled meat on a cedar plank before? I never had until recently and let me tell you, talk about a tender, melt in your mouth piece of salmon. OMG, it is amazing. So, here’s inspiration no. 11.
Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon
Now you’ll notice the the finished salmon, when grilled on a cedar plan, has a very glossy look to it. This is because when you grill on a plank, you are steaming your fish. How? Well, here’s the basic steps to grilling on a cedar plank.
Step 1: Soak your cedar plank a minimum of 2 hours or up to overnight. You will need to weight down your plank with a bowl, mug, or something else a bit heavier. If you don’t your board will float and not absorb as much water.
Step 2: Place your salmon, skin side down, onto your soaked cedar plank
Step 3: Brush your marinade or sauce onto the salmon.
Step 4: Place your salmon on a medium high grill (you don’t want your plank to dry out and catch on fire) and place the lid on top of your grill. Grill covered for 20 minutes or until your salmon flakes easily with a fork.
See, it’s pretty easy. I grilled mine with a marinade consisting of the following ingredients:
- Juice of one lime
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 Tbsp aleppo pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
