I must admit, I absolutely LOVE it when a blogger invites me to join in a “themed” group post. We all are given the challenge of creating a project based on a certain theme and then we all share our tutorials on the same day. To me, it’s not only fun for me, I also get a chance to share a post that has a TON of inspiration for YOU! Today, I’ve teamed up with 16 bloggers to give you a great roundup of 17 Easter Projects. First, I’m going to share my creation with you: Crochet Easter Egg Garland!
This is such a quick and easy project to do. You can complete your Crochet Easter Egg Garland in the time it takes to watch a movie on Netflix..unless, of course, you’ve decided to make a VERY long garland! Are you ready to make one too?
Crochet Easter Egg Garland
Skills needed: chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, slip stitch
Supplies:
- 4-5 yards of worsted weight yarn for each egg (I used Sugar & Cream Cotton Yarn left over from previous projects)
- White worsted weight yarn for your “garland string”
- US G crochet hook
First, we will need to crochet our eggs. For my garland, I chose to make 11 eggs
Crochet Egg Instructions:
Step one (SET UP circle): Chain 4 and join with a slip stitch.
Step two (ROUND 1): Chain 3 (will be your first stitch of this round), 11 Double Crochets into this round, join with a slip stitch into the third chain of your starting stitch (you will have a total of 12 stitches)
Step 3 (ROUND 3): In the next round, you will be making two stitches into each of the Double Crochet stitches from the previous round. To create the egg shape, you will start off with single crochets and gradually increase stitch size until you are making treble crochets and then complete the round by stitching smaller stitches until you end with single crochets. Here’s the steps.
- chain 1 (will be your first stitch) and single crochet into the base of this chain stitch (2 stitches)
- 2 single crochets into each of the next two double crochets (will have a total of 6 stitches in this round at this point)
- 2 half double crochets into the next double crochet (8 stitches at this point)
- 2 double crochets into the next double crochet (10 stitches at this point)
- 2 treble crochets into the next 2 double crochets (14 stitches at this point)
- 2 double crochets into the next double crochet (16 stitches at this point)
- 2 half double crochets into the next double crochet (18 stitches at this point)
- 2 single crochets into each of the next three double crochets (24 stitches – your round is complete)
- join with a slip stitch
Your egg is complete. Weave in ends and make additional eggs.
Now it’s time to join the eggs together. With your white yarn (or whatever color you have selected), chain 40, attach your first egg with a slip stitch (see photo below), chain 20 and attach an additional egg. Continue until you have attached all your eggs. End by chaining 40.
Now, you have created a beautiful garland to adorn your home this Easter.
Here, I have it draped on my silk tree in my Woman Cave. I think it’s so festive and fun!
