When I fall in love all I think about is my new love. I dream about the future and all the wonderful possibilities that lay ahead. It’s such a dreamy time. Are you this way?
I was this way about my first “celebrity crush”, an actor named Robby Benson. I don’t know if you know who he was but he was in movies back in the late 70s early 80s. Dreamy…..
Today I’m not “crushing” on a person but an item. My new heart throb is a craft supply. A What???? Yup, a craft supply: Alcohol Ink
I first tried decorating some tiles. Here’s how they turned out!
I’ve also used these amazing inks to make “stained glass”.
Like I said, when I’m smitten with something, I become obsessed. I stopped by Goodwill and found a great glass piece for just $0.25…just add a little alcohol ink and a masterpiece just may be born!
Alcohol Inked Vase
All you need is a glass piece, some alcohol ink, a stamp with felt attached, a couple of cotton balls, and some alcohol. Wash and dry your glass piece. Then with a cotton ball and alcohol, wipe the outside of your glass piece to remove any residual soap.
Next, take a stamp and adhere a piece of felt to the bottom. (You can purchase a special stamp for this or you can take an old stamp and glue a piece of the sticky velcro onto it.) Drop two or more colors of alcohol ink onto the felt piece.
Here’s the finished product. I didn’t stamp the base so that I could hold on to it. The ink dries very quickly. (Note, for durability, you may way to spray an acrylic finish on it….something like Polycrylic)
Isn’t it beautiful and it only took about 15 minutes to complete! These alcohol inks are amazing.
If you haven’t tried alcohol inks, you really should. They are so incredibly easy to work with, dry quickly, make so little mess. Just wonderful! Supposedly you can use them on paper as well…..I just may need to try this!

I’ve never heard of alcohol ink, but I do love the effect! Seems simple enough, too, to work with! Definitely will keep this in mind for future crafts Have a great weekend.
