Have you noticed that Halloween, and all it’s candy, is the kick-off to a couple months of indulgent eating? The preparing for Thanksgiving, the holiday baking, all the parties. You try to eat healthfully but all the goodies are just so tempting. One way I fight temptation is by whipping up a nutritious smoothie.
I’ve been reading about all the health benefits of cocoa nibs so I picked up a package. These little gems were what inspired this Almond Joy smoothie.
This smoothie has all the amazing flavors of an Almond Joy: coconut, almond and cococa. Unlike the candy bar, this smoothie is full of anti-oxidants, protein, probiotics, fiber, while being low in sugar. Doesn’t it look delicious?
Are you ready to make one?
Let’s get started by gathering all our ingredients!
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup coconut almond milk blend
- 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 2 Tbsp almond butter
- 2 Tbsp unsweetened yogurt
- 1 Tbsp cocoa nibs
- 1 Tbsp honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp almond extract
Directions:
Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour in a glass and enjoy
Now I use a Kitchen Aid blender ’cause it whips up a smoothie in no time. What kind of blender do you use? A stick blender or a table top model? If you are in the market for a new one, check out these models.
Doesn’t this look absolutely delish?
This smoothie is not as sweet as an almond joy candy bar but it is tasty. It’s so nutritious too! Full of antioxidants, fiber, protein, probiotics and healthy fats, you’ll be satiated and able to resist all the season’s temptations.
Here’s to a healthy holiday season!
