One of those treats that everyone likes and are super easy are Rice Crispy Treats! They are super yummo but aren’t very festive. Well, I saw these Neon Food Colors at Kroger and I had an “A-HA” moment.
What if I dyed the cereal and then made the Rice Cripsy Treats? Do you think this will work? Well guess what? It did! Here’s how I did this.
Tie Dyed Rice Crispy Treats
Ingredients:
6 cups Rice Crispy Cereal
1 package mini marshmallows
1/4 cup butter
Food Colors (whatever colors you choose)
Directions:
Divide up your 6 cups of cereal into 3 or 4 containers w/lids (I chose to use 4 colors and used pyrex containers w/lids)
In your first bowl, add a few drops of food coloring.
Place the lid on your container and shake. Look, the cereal turned pink! (You may need to add more food coloring to get the desired color).
Here are all 4 colors! Move your dyed cereal into 4 bowls that have room for you to mix in the marshmallow “sauce” that you will make.
In pot over medium heat, melt your butter. Once the butter is melted, add the marshmallows. Stir until melted. Now moving quickly, pour the marshmallow sauce over each of your bowls of dyed cereal and then stir to cover. Drop the marshmallow covered dyed cereal into a greased pan and press down. (Sorry I didn’t take pictures but the marshmallow/butter sauce sets up very quickly).
Cut up and enjoy! Aren’t they pretty?
As you know I’ve been busy in my kitchen creating for Easter. Stop back at 7:00 pm tonight to see how I made Easter Pretzels!
