One of my blogging buddies, Lauren from The Thinking Closet, has a wicked sense of humor, just like my boys do. So, when I heard she was hosting “Scarf Week” as a fun way to play along with “Shark Week” I HAD to participate. Today’s scarves are all about crocheting and knitting, including my knitted collegiate scarf pattern.

Aren’t these scarves amazing? I LOVE them all and I can’t wait to share my scarf with you! My older son,who just graduated from Ohio University this past spring with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Math, was the inspiration for this scarf. I know, he’s a nerd but he’s a pretty cool nerd. Anyway, he will be heading off to the University of Michigan this fall to pursue his PhD in applied mathematics. His mathematical mind makes him look at things a bit differently than the rest of us. That’s what inspired this take on the traditional striped knitted collegiate scarf.
Don’t let the mirrored ends intimidate you. This pattern is super easy. You only need to know how to cast on, bind off, knit and purl. Yup, that’s it! Are you ready to make one for your student….or professor?
