For those of you who don’t know, my mother-in-law is suffering from Alzheimer’s. As a result, I have read many articles that speak to potential causes and preventatives for this awful disease. One common theme that I have heard about is excess metals (copper, zinc, iron and aluminum) in the body that essentially “short out” the brain.
- Baking Soda (to absorb order)
- Cornstarch or Arrowroot Powder (for dryness)
- Virgin Unrefined Coconut Oil (for moisturizing properties)
DIY Solid Deoderant
- 1/3 cup baking soda
- 1/3 cup cornstarch or arrowroot powder (I used cornstarch)
- 1/3 cup Virgin Unrefined Coconut Oil
- Essential oil, optional
Place the ingredients in a bowl and begin to mix. It will look like this to start and trust me, you will think that this will never thoroughly combine but it will. Just use the back of your spoon to smoosh the ingredients together.
After about 5 minutes or so…..LOOK! It actually comes together…kind of like pie crust dough does.
Next, just pack it in a container for future use. I used a small mason jar but you could pack it into an empty deodorant stick container….I just didn’t have any around! This batch is a bit much for the 1 cup mason jar. I suggest you purchase the “squatty” wide mouth pint mason jars that many people are using for beauty products today.
