When you say, “summer drinks” I think “citrus-ades”. You know, lemonade, limeade, and orangeade. There’s just something about that sweet-tart combo that is so refreshing when it’s hot and humid outside. Don’t you agree?
Well, my world of “ades” just exploded when I came upon a recipe for Brazilian Limeade. It tastes almost like you crossed limeade with lime sherbet. Trust me it’s really good! Just take a look at this glass.
Are you drooling yet? Oh, I sure am. Let’s whip up a batch. Trust me, it’s super easy and oh so quick!
Brazilian Limeade
Adapted from allrecipes.com
Ingredients:
- 4 limes
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 6 cups water (divided)
Directions:
Cut each lime into 8 pieces (32 pieces total) and place these pieces in a blender. Add 2 cups of water and pulse 5 times. (Note: You are NOT blending your limes and water. You are just trying to release the flavor from the zest along with the juices from the limes. If you blend too long, you will release the bitter flavor from the pith.)
Pour the lime/water mixture through a strainer and into your pitcher.
Here’s a picture of these 3 steps.
In your pitcher, add the remaining 4 cups of water, sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla. Stir well to combine. Serve chilled over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
Okay, this post has me drooling…..I’m off to make another batch!
