Spa Day Saturday – Detoxing Foot Soak!

June 2, 2013 By MarilynClark 7 Comments

When someone says “summer” what’s the first thing that pops into your head?  Now let’s be honest?  Well, you’ll never guess what pops into my head……”flip flops”!  Yup, these are my all time favorite summertime shoes!  This is probably because my feet really prefer being naked!

Anyway, after a day of running around in my flip flops, my feet are tired and sometimes the heat makes them swell just a bit.  Well, the best treat in the world is a wonderful foot soak…..especially a detoxifying one.  Are you ready to learn how to pamper your feet with a detox foot bath?  It’s super easy and your feet will LOVE you!

Detoxing Foot Soak

Ingredients:
1 Cup Epsom Salts
1 Cup Sea Salt (I like to use Dead Sea Salt)
2 Cups Baking Soda
10 Drops of Peppermint Essential Oil, Optional
10 Drops of Grapefruit Essential Oil, Optional

Directions:

In a 1 quart (or larger) jar, combine the epsom salts, sea salt (or dead salt) and baking soda.  Securely place the lid on your jar and shake to combine.  If adding any essential oils, add to the jar and shake to combine.

To Use:

In a wash tub, place hot water, as hot as your feet can stand.  Add 1/4 cup of your detox foot soak and stir to mix.  Soak your feet for 30 minutes or so, adding additional hot water as needed.

Notes:

  • The essential oils are optional.  The salts and baking soda will help draw out toxins from your feet.  I add peppermint essential oil for it’s cooling properties and grapefruit essential oil for it’s detoxing properties (helps to reduce swelling).
  • You can find baking soda, sea salt and epsom salts (pharmacy section ) in your local grocery store.
Trust me, this is a great way to relax after a hot day on your feet!  You’ll enjoy this simple and affordable spa treatment!

I will have to try this out – I have made a foot soak before with the epsom salt and baking soda but not added the sea salt. I will give that a try next time. Thanks for sharing.
