I can’t believe how addicted I am to making my own lotions and potions. My daughter loves EOS lip balm and thinks my peppermint vanilla lip balm is very similar and my husband loves the “mounds bar” solid lotion bars. Today’s project was an expansion on my 3 ingredient body butter.
One of my all time favorite moisturizers is smoothing souffle whipped body cream from Origins. It is moisturizing with a light spearmint/peppermint scent. I absolutely LOVE the way it feels and smells. However, it costs $29.50 for 6.7 ounces! Yup, I said $29.50. Definitely a splurge. How would you like to be able to make 12 ounces for about $1.00!
Before I continue, I’d like to share a few things.
- I had been afraid to use olive oil previously because I didn’t want my body butter to have an olive-y smell. Also, virgin, unrefined coconut oil has a yummy coconut aroma and is pricey.
- If you purchase light olive oil, there is no olive-y aroma
- I found LouAnn coconut oil at Kroger for $6.99 for 31.5 fl oz and it is odor free.
- If you want a great unscented body cream, just omit the essential oils from my recipe.
