As you all know, I’m on my diy “spa” treatment kick and I’m still loving it. In honor of Valentine’s Day, I was looking around the web for a diy lip exfoliation recipe. I found this great cinnamon sugar lip scrub at Deliciously Organized. It’s super easy but I changed it up a bit.
- I decided to add honey since honey is great for your skin
- Since the skin on your lips is very delicate, I decided to use regular sugar instead of turbinado/brown mix.
- I didn’t have cinnamon oil but I’m loving the olive oil/coconut oil combo so used this instead (use light olive oil and refined coconut oil, like Lou Ana, if you do not want these oils to add any flavor to your lip sugar scrub).
- I added a smidgen of ground cinnamon for flavor.
It’s super easy and I bet you have everything you need in your kitchen. Check it out!
Cinnamon Honey Sugar Lip Scrub
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp honey
4 Tbsp granulated sugar (NOT powdered)
Dash of cinnamon (approx 1/16 tsp)
Place the coconut oil and olive oil in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high 30 seconds. The coconut oil will not be completely melted but that’s okay. You just want it to be easily incorporated with the other ingredients.
Add the honey to the oil mixture and stir together (no picture of this).
Add the cinnamon to your sugar and then blend together.
Add the sugar/cinnamon mixture to your oil/honey mixture and stir. See how there is very little oil standing?
Store in small container(s). These are some that I picked up from the Dollar Tree (8 for $1.00).
To use:
Using your finger, rub some of your scrub on your lips. Let it sit there a few minutes. Then using a circular motion, exfoliate your lips…be gentle, your lips are delicate. Wipe off the excess scrub with a wash cloth or tissue.
Finish by putting some lip balm onto you lips. If you’ve never made your own, it’s easy! Try my peppermint vanilla lip balm. Your lips will be super soft!
