So what happened? A couple of weeks ago I had planned on participating in Newlyweds on a Budget's craft night: magazines. I had planned on taking this cute little shelf that I had found at Goodwill for $1.50, paint it with some of the free paint I had picked up at Ace, and then decoupage magazine pictures and recipes onto the shelf.
So I sanded the shelf, protected my painting area, and stirred the paint.
I then painted my self with a few coats of paint. All was looking good. But when I cut out my magazine pictures/recipes and laid them on the shelf...ugh! It didn't look anything the way I thought it would. What to do?
I had some leftover burlap from a previous project...brainstorm! I cut two strips and using mod podge, I adhered them to the shelf. I sanded the edges of my shelf to lightly distress it and then painted on a few coats of polycrylic. Here it is!
How does it look dressed up with some accessories?
I think I like it
What do you think?
I'm still trying to figure out what I would do utilizing magazines. Every project I try just doesn't turn out the way I see it in my head.
