Well, I’m only 6 weeks past my deadline for the “get your crap together” party hosted by Lovely Crafty Home. My project became much bigger than just getting my stuff organized. I decided to also renovate my room. My space is approximately 6′ x 10′ and is my Woman Cave and Craft Area. Here it is!
In case you forgot, here is what it looked like before! UGH!
So, we got rid of the lovely floor and put down our paper bag floor. You can see how I did it here. You can also see my journey into reupholstering for the first time here.
You can see the how I decoupaged the desk here.
Look at all that fabric above the window! There are 100 “bolts”! It took me forever to fold this all up due to the fact that I had already washed all the fabric and it was all incredibly wrinkly….I had to iron every piece before I rolled it up! Time consuming but worth it!
Here’s my pinterest inspired quilt that hides a ton of storage (this hides a window that had been closed up when the porch was enclosed and winterized). Learn more here.
My Joy “wreath” covers up the top of the old window so you no longer see the upper frame. Learn more here.
See how I made my sewing machine cover here.
I love the shelves that we put in above the windows! There is so much storage now. I’m happy that the look of this room is not craft room but a serene woman cave.
I still have lots of ideas of things to do in this room. However, I am at the stage where most of the big items are done so I wanted to share this with you. Be on the lookout for more things soon!
4you

This came out unbelievable! The before and after is so stunning. I hope you’ll be sharing this on Wednesday. I’m so jealous that I don’t have a room like this for myself.

One word “INCREDIBLE”!!! Oh’ who am I kidding Marilyn? There’s no way I could stop at just one word with this makeover. You’ve worked your butt off girl. Lets see:
#1 What great light in that room. I love all the windows.
#2 I know how hard it is to keep a craft room looking clean. Kick butt job just picking it all up.
#3 Fantastic job with the floor makeover. Ingenuity is a wonderful think and I know that was a ton of work getting rid of the old flooring.
#4 I can’t believe you tackled an uphostery job like that for your first one. You did a great job and I don’t blame you for being proud. I haven’t gotten the guts up for something like that yet.
#5 I did my fabric the same way last year. I love how much neater it is. The high shelf was a great use of space.
#6 Great job on all the sewing projects. I bet you made the curtains too. Smart way to cover the window but really the fencing and garland was brilliant.
# The desk turned out wonderful too. No waste with you.
Thanks for sharing all your hard work. And your sweet comments on my Family pallet sign made my day. I’m just sorry it took so long to get over here. I’m your newest follower.
Have a great week.

I love the shelves too – I would never think to do shelves that went in front of windows like that but it is a great way to maximize storage in a small space. I need some more shelf space in my office and I think that would be a great way to do it!

My craft room is also my eldest son’s bedroom when he is home from college and we just switched that room from a double bed to a single bed. I wish that had made enough room for me to also put a comfy chair in there. Maybe when he finally leaves properly I’ll get one.

Okay, so when can I move in? LOL Marilyn, you little ripper! It’s absolutely fantastic. I’d so love a space like that. And ironing all that fabric. It’s just beautiful. I bet it makes you feel like making something all the time. I’m having such terrible sewing and craft withdrawls because I have things from one end of the house to the other and I can’t find anything AND my sewing machine has been on the blink for about 12 months now! Oh heaven help me! LOL You should be so proud of yourself Marilyn. Well done!

My before is as messy as yours, but I doubt my after will be as spectacular a difference! You are a better woman than I ironing all that fabric….but what a great idea. All in all your woman cave is a room I think most any woman would love, this one does!
