A couple of weeks ago I showed you how I make my own homemade yogurt. How about taking all that yogurt goodness and making a spreadable cheese, similar to cream cheese? It’s not hard and doesn’t take a lot of supplies, just time.
Take the cheesecloth/yogurt off the sink tap. Open up your cheesecloth and place the contents in a bowl. As you can see here, I have 2 cups of whey and a little over a cup of yogurt cheese. (8.8 oz or 250 gm).
It’s yummy and a great cream cheese replacement (much more nutritious with a lot more protein and less fat).
If you’d like you can add spices and flavors to your yogurt cheese to make a yummy addition to bagels, sandwiches, or whatever else you’d enjoy! (don’t forget to use your whey in pancakes, muffins, bread, or other baking project)

That looks awesome, I had no idea you could do that. In the photo you use fat free french vanilla. Is that what you recommend? I would like to keep it fat free if possible! Janelle

What a wonderful idea! Both my husband and I bought big tubs of yoghurt independently of each other, now I know what to do with some of it. And then I will make a rhubarber cheese cake with it :-). would love to invite you over to have tea and cake with me…

I love anything yogurt, so I am going to try this if I can keep my daughter out of it long enough. She usually cracks open yogurt as soon as it gets in the house. Thanks for sharing!

Yummy! My aunt makes this, her late husband was Lebanese and they call this cheese “Leban”. I like to make a version with garlic and dill, and another version that’s good is pureed strawberries mixed in!
Come by sometime for a visit and follow back if you want
