I love having craft supplies on hand so when the mood strikes me or I have a pleasant opening in my schedule, I can make something without having to run to the store. The main problem I face is keeping all my “must have” supplies under control. This includes my fabric stash.
My fabric had been either stashed in tubs in the basement (but out of sight out of mind…so I wasn’t utilizing my stash as I should), or there were piles stashed throughout the house. UGH! Total chaos! But not any more!
Here’s my stash now!
Here are some other amazing ideas!
I really liked this idea from sewmanyways.blogspot.com and had every intention to organize my fabric in my woman cave/craft room like this.
During the remodeling of my room, my husband put up a shelf that was the perfect place to display and store my fabric. I liked the “bolt” idea from the Ribbon Retreat but I didn’t want to have to cut tons of foam board pieces. I was so psyched when I found this idea from smashedpeasandcarrots.blogspot.com
Rather than using foam board that she cut up, she used the cardboard used to keep comic books flat when collecting. She has a great tutorial here.
Here are the boards that I purchased from Hobby Central, our local hobby/comic book store for $7.99 (enough for 100 mini fabric bolts)
When looking for these, you will NOT find them Hobby Lobby, Joann Fabrics, or other craft type stores. You will find them at hobby stores that sell comic books (or your local comic book store). If you still can’t find them, you can order them from Amazon.
Happy crafting and organizing. I hope one of these solutions is right for you!
